PROJECT: Rocky Hills Residence 2011

TYPE: New House

DESCRIPTION: Elevated and secluded, this house has been designed to capture panoramic views over Great Oyster Bay.  The house can be best described as a light weight 'box kite' frame that has been rotated on stilts in between a series stone support walls.  The economic modular frame structure appears to float above the site while remaining anchored to it by walls of locally sourced natural stone.  The house has been designed to provide a family retreat that is both functional, relaxing & fun to visit.   The rotated expressed frame features throughout and creates a series of loft areas for childrens play and sleep.  The internal volume is expressed through both single and double height spaces to living and bedrooms zones.
